# Intellectual property and licensing — specification tree

This specification tree (`spec/`) is licensed Apache License 2.0 (the
LICENSE copy beside this document; the same terms as the reference
implementation).

- **Patent posture.** Contributors license essential claims covering
  their contributions under Apache-2.0's patent grant (Section 3). The
  steward's intent is a donation-ready posture: no CLA is required,
  and no additional patent covenant is asserted beyond Apache-2.0. A
  future standards venue's IPR process (W3C-mode essential-claims
  disclosure, or a foundation's inbound license) can be satisfied from
  this basis without re-licensing.
- **Sign-off.** Contributions are accepted under the Developer
  Certificate of Origin (DCO): `git commit -s`. The sign-off records
  that the contributor wrote or has the right to submit the work.
- **Copyright.** Copyright is retained by contributors, licensed under
  Apache-2.0; the NOTICE file beside this tree names the steward.
- **Trademark.** The project name carries no registered trademark
  claim by the steward at this time; a receiving foundation may adopt
  one as part of a transfer.

## Steward

The Agent Blueprint Protocol is stewarded by BaseLabs (an unincorporated
organization) with Russ Palermo as the named maintainer. Decision
rights, the registry process, and the transfer inventory are recorded
in this tree (see FOUNDATION-TRANSITION.md and registry/OPERATIONS.md).
